Life News Today Editorial Standards
Life News Today (LNT) is a nonprofit newsroom dedicated to producing fact-based, independent journalism that serves the public interest. We report on political, cultural, and community issues with a commitment to clarity, accountability, and impact. Our guiding principle is simple: journalism is a public service. Every story we publish must meet the highest standards of accuracy, fairness, and integrity.
Core Values
We verify facts through documents, data, and direct sources, and do not publish unconfirmed information. We operate free of political, corporate, or donor influence in our reporting; funding sources never determine editorial decisions. We attribute our sources, explain our methods, and acknowledge when we do not have all the answers. When we fall short, we correct the record clearly and promptly.
Editorial Standards
All quotes are presented verbatim and attributed to the speaker by name, title, or source document. Anonymous sources are used sparingly and only when essential to the public interest, with editor approval required. We avoid police or government jargon in favor of clear, accessible language.
Factual errors are corrected as soon as they are identified. Corrections are noted at the end of the story with a timestamp, and for significant errors, labeled clearly in both the headline and the body.
We follow the principles of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Code of Ethics. We seek out underrepresented voices and include community perspectives. Reporters may not cover organizations or businesses in which they have a financial stake or close personal ties.
All coverage is written in Associated Press (AP) style, in active voice and plain language. We do not publish opinion unless clearly labeled as commentary. Investigative reporting, features, and cultural pieces all follow the same objectivity standards.
Content Review & Fact-Checking
All stories undergo review for factual accuracy, sourcing, and AP style compliance. Investigative pieces require documentation such as public records, interviews, or FOIA responses to substantiate claims. Multimedia, including photos, video, and graphics, are verified for authenticity before publication.
Community Engagement
We welcome reader feedback and story ideas. Concerns about errors, fairness, or coverage can be submitted to:
info@lifenewstoday.com (general inquiries)
editor@lifenewstoday.org (editorial inquiries, corrections, or ethics concerns)
We are committed to listening to our community and correcting the record when appropriate.
Corrections & Accountability
All corrections remain permanently noted in the story archive to ensure transparency with our readers. When a story is updated, the change is timestamped, and a clear note is added at the end of the article. Readers may request clarification or track updates to any story by contacting editor@lifenewstoday.org.
Independence & Funding
Life News Today is a nonprofit newsroom supported by donors, grants, and memberships. Donors and sponsors do not influence editorial content, and we disclose funding sources when relevant to a story.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement
Journalism is a living practice. As standards evolve, so will we. We regularly review our editorial policies to ensure we are meeting the highest professional standards and serving our readers with integrity.
